AMD-12/32
ALARM MONITOR DEVICE

The AMD-12/32 Alarm Monitor Module provides 12 inputs, user defined, supervised or non-supervised, 2 inputs non-supervised plus monitoring and control of system applications. The unit is expandable to 32 inputs with an optional EMD-20 daughter board. The panel provides output for 4 Form C heavy duty commercial contact relays capable of handling 5 amps at 30 VDC or 3 amps at 120/220 VAC. The AMD 12/32 also has a built-in power supply/charger which provides an onboard UPS when a battery is connected.  There are 2 red LED's on the board which monitor the clocking pulse and the communications between the AMD12/32 and the SPP-2.

The board is designed to be ideal for the replacement or upgrade of a system without requiring the change of existing sensor devices.

When utilizing the output function of the 4 output relays, they can be locally controlled by any combination of Form C inputs listed below:

  • Monitor points 1-32
  • Host comm loss
  • Power fault
  • Time zone control
  • Cabinet tamper
  • Alarm reference

Any of the above conditions can initiate one or more relay outputs.  A different time zone can be specified for each of the four outputs.

  • Built-in auto-resetting fuse
  • Built-in power supply/charger
  • 1 serial port (2 channels up to 38.4K baud)
  • Communications exceeds UL Grade AA
  • 2 self-diagnostic status LED's
  • Capable of 32 inputs with EMD-20, 20 input expansion board via ribbon cable
  • EOL termination can be set to different values  on each supervised input
  • Supervised inputs designed to meet UL Grade A
  • Power fault input (non-supervised)
  • Cabinet tamper input (non-supervised)
  • AC or DC operation
    • 12 VDC to 24 VDC
    • 16 VAC nominal
  • 4 Form C relays, 5 amps at 30VDC or 3 amps at  120/220 VAC, resistive

  • Single high speed serial communication port
  • The port is used to communicate with the SPP-2 and can be either single or dual channel
  • Port can be either RS-232 or RS-485 communication dependent on the type of communications module installed and has the ability of being configured as either 2-wire or 4-wire with speeds of 2400, 9600, 19.2K, or 38.4K baud
  • Support for TCP/IP, Fiber and Modem
  • Dual Redundant communication Paths

  • Device identification request
  • Set date/time
  • Set/delete time zone
  • Set/delete holiday schedule
  • Configure monitor point zone
  • Set output relay pulse duration
  • Monitor point status report request
  • Set/reset output relay
  • Set time zone for masking
  • Set time zone for auxiliary relay output
  • Send stored events

When the AMD-12/32 is on-line with the SPP-2, status changes (alarm inputs) are sent immediately to the SPP-2 on the next interrogation response sequence.

When the AMD-12/32 is off-line with the SPP-2, the status changes (alarm inputs) are stored in the FIFO log alarm event buffer.  Each stored event contains:

  • Time of event
  • Monitor point zone number
  • Monitor point zone status after change
  • Monitor point zone status before change

One hundred events are stored, including at least one event for each monitor point zone since the AMD-12/32 went off-line.

The AMD-12/32 sends the following information to the SPP-2:

  • Device identification
  • Monitor point status report
  • Stored event report

  • Can be used on the SPP-2, AMD-12/32 and the AAD-4/6
  • Easily interchangeable to meet communication protocols
  • Can Operate as either two (two-wire) half duplex or one (four-wire) full duplex port
  • Two-wire configuration can be used for redundancy on both the RS-232 and the RS-485 modules
  • RS-485 module can be used to extend communications cable to a maximum length of 4000 feet from the SPP-2
  • Port programming is determined in the device configuration menu at Host
  • RS-485 module has built in line terminators for installation convenience
